I was diagnosed and treated for syphilis in 2019 and found out I was pregnant in November 2020. My titers were very low, doctor said it’s so low that it’s basically negative. I was concerned that I would transmit it to my newborn so I tried to ask as many questions as possible before aborting due to psychological difficulties. Doctors were assuring that it’s possible BUT it is also still likely. I was so confused and just hoped for the best outcome. Now I’m scared again.

As I understand it, you are less likely to have outbreaks (once a year or less) with HSV1 than with HSV2 (5 to 10 per year). Is it smarter then just to date those with HSV1 to no worsen your condition? Or is having one or both just the same thing?

I understand the use of a condom, and the daily pill will help stop the transmission of hsv genital during normal vaginal sex.
But what about oral sex? Man on woman, woman on man. What are the risks there?
thx

Is it easy to transmit the disease to another partner that's not positive and you don't have a outbreak and you take Valacyclovir daily.

I tested years ago maybe a little over 10 years, i was told by my doctor that I technically don't have it because I don't have breakouts and cant really officially diagnose me unless I have a breakout because that is what they usually test. I have never had a breakout ever. I also do not understand the difference with HSV 1 and HSV 2, if I have it in the mouth or genital or both. What does this all mean, do I have it? Can is spread it? (if so how do I know when?) I understand using condoms can help, but when I'm married and want to have kids how do I do that if I don't have any symptoms and i don't want to spread it to my partner? Why isn't there enough information on this when its such a common thing?

So my last girlfriend and I both have HSV2. She always had breakouts only on her butt, not on her vagina. So I performed oral on her vagina many times over 3 years and neither of us showed any breakouts on our mouths. We are no longer together and I’m with a new partner and wondering if I kiss her now or any other partner am I risking passing the virus orally to them ?

We've been dating 1.5 years. What does family planning this look like for couples like us? We wear condoms all the time. She wants to give oral and feel me without a condom, I refuse to allow that. Is there even a point to planning a future?
Does anyone in this situation have an experience they care to share? How do I ask a doctor for support/education? Where can I obtain help If I wanted my GF to join and learn?
I really do not want the relationship to end but being careless and passing this along is not an option. As much as we all strive to have the best relationships breakups/divorce are always inevitable. I would hate to affect her in the way I've been affected in case she wished to move on

Ok so, I am trying to do research on this, i have had Herpes now for over a Year and had only 1 maybe 2 outbreaks. I have HSV-1 Only Genitally, but cannot find any information online that states whether or not you can catch BOTH strains in the same area.
Basically if I have HSV-1 Genitally, and have unprotected sex with a Person who has HSV-2, will we give each other the strain we have? or with the Antibodies we have from the current strain fight off the infection?
